 This Course was started on September 26th , 2009 , and completed on September 30th , 2009 .Over 21 applications were received and 16 candidates were selected to attend to this course , twelve candidates were from West Bank , three were from Jerusalem and one was from the 45 Area . The lectures were both theoretical classrooms and practical training, using the project sites of rehabilitation work of the Old City of Jerusalem Revitalization Programme in the Old City of Nablus and Jerusalem.


The themes of the course were as the following:

  • At the conclusion of the session, the participants were enable to:
  • Criteria and methodology for conservation and restoration
  • Reference documentations
  • Mechanical behavior of masonry structures
  • Crack patterns in masonry structures
  • Data acquisition and monitoring
  • Structural analysis and numerical simulation techniques
  • Traditional and innovative consolidation techniques
  • Masonry structures in seismic areas
  • Seismic prevention/ consolidation


At the conclusion of the session, the participants were enable to :

  • be able to tackle the conservation/ restoration problems with the appropriate cultural and technical background
  • be able to interact with experts in the conservation/ restoration field with a major awareness of the problems involved
  • have the main references to approach conservation/ restoration problems
